Details are nearing the end. Apparently all furniture seem to be in place.




So some adjustment on the lighting, exterior and materials is due, then the production quality can be rendered.

Making of the Ent - Painting

Making of the Ent Texture painting Finishing the modelling is a misleading success. Painting Gail was a challenge of its own. So I took the path through the vibrant atmosphere of the woods of rhythm (by putting on some Forestdelic music) and dreamed of colors and patterns to fill the white skin of my canvas to bring it to life. Base Real tree bark Flattened texture Painting the textures started in the park actually. I took my camera and headed for some trees... old trees. My aim was to get a realistic texture basis from where I could go in with variation depending on the surface I wanted. After catching some lovely tree bark and some stones, I headed back to the computer to paint Gails body with some reality. It started with some adjustments in Photoshop. The Gamma value was adjusted, as the colors in the RGB screen space would not reflect how it is in reality. Next I took decreased the level of highlights to make the texture more flat. The Flower - Leaf

To continue with the flower, a proper one, especially a stylized one has leaves. Mine will have one oversize leaf as I have further plans with it, but I'll come to that later. To start off again a good outline is needed. Probably everybody could think about 10 different leaf shapes immediately as we see them day by day, but I took a template just to make sure. Especially as I want to model the leaf with its veins. In my opinion, there could be two ways to model such an object. One way is to go the photo realistic way, in that case very good textures are needed, but a less complicated model. Second is a more toony appearance with more detailed model (e.g.: thickness, veins), which needs less or no textures, but a bit more work on the model. I choose the second option for this usage.  The template curve will result a nice surface, when filled out. One could think, that this is already enough as leaves material is thin.
